Not quite. There were quite a lot of attacks against warships especially earlier in the war e.g. during the Norwegian campaign.
Unfortunately torpedo problems were so dire that the RN escaped many times. If torpedoes had been working correctly, half the British fleet would have been sunk around Norway and the North Sea.
Irishreds radiolog contains a lot of these sort of reports and information, it's quite interesting.
Also, in 1941/2 (I think) BdU issued orders that convoy escorts be engaged as priority targets, which is interesting.
