That was just the finale to my weird journey to La Spezia.
The reason we checked in there in the first place was because our attack periscope, observation periscope, and watch tower were all listed as destroyed.
Oddly enough, I could go up on the tower and use the UZO, but when I tried to move the crew or officers, they would not go.
Then as we made our was to the Italian port for repairs (under time compression)
somebody ordered the watch crew to go on duty. The next thing I knew, all four of them were up there listed as dead! The weather was calm, we were not under attack. (Or maybe they
were under attack and didn't report it???? and becuase they didn't report it the TC didn't drop to a slower rate????)
Whatever the cause of the mysterious deaths, we took the men into the forward torpedo room and "buried" them.
But the next day the same thing happened again!
Four more deaths. The crew were getting scared, and so I guess they wisely decided not to go up there anymore.
But as I said before, in the end we were all entombed in concrete in the harbor, and thus was the very strange ending of my latest u-boat career.
