My very first time playing SH4 I decided to leave in '41 out of Pearl Harbor. After about 14 hours on the sea my watch crew reported a warship contact. I go to the bridge and was greeted by 3 Japanese destroyers 1000 METERS IN FRONT OF ME! I called for a crash dive and tried to maneuver around so I could get a good shot off. That chance never came however. I was smashed by depth charges and forced to blow ballast. I was shot up on the surface and was rammed on my starboard by one of them. I began to sink and they kept charging me. I suppose it was a good thing this happened because I learned how deep the Gar Class could go.
