Are you heading out to areas more likely to contain targets? That would include the UK coast and convoy routes.

Also, try some essential mods, such as the latest versions of the Real Uboat (RUb) and Improved Convoys mods.

I have never experienced 8 realtime hours of nothing in SH3.
