So many monitors these days are 16:9 it's actually difficult to find a 'square' traditional monitor.

I gave up and switched to using cheap LCD TVs instead. I got an ex-display 32" HD telly from Ebuyer.com for £230 and use that via HDMI as my monitor. The immersion factor is brilliant as it pretty much fills your view sitting in front of it, and it has the added advantage of being a Freeview equipped TV as well should I need it. I also now have a 37" TV hooked up to my media centre PC in the main room. Large monitors are hideously expensive, and flatscreen TVs are cheap, plentiful and work perfectly well.
