Anyways, I have a lot of experience regarding electronics and games, so I apply at Gamestop, Staples, and Radioshack.

Don't stop seeking a job you are good at and would like to to do. But until one comes along check out those 'want' ads and apply for something outside your box. Don't let pride get in the way and never expect to start at the top of any profession no matter how long you have been doing it.
How seriously you take your interview appearance. Is telling how seriously you take your job.

I'm in the process of trying again now. I put the app in on tuesday, and since it's a holiday week, I'm kinda reluctant to call in (since I'm not sure what the hours of the lady I'm supposed to talk to are) and since I'm not sure how the "applicant etiquette" goes for holiday weeks.

You wonder why people think you are not trying? Oh my chores, the car, my period, my panties are tied in a wad. You are in a process? what process? YOU'RE NOT SURE??!!! What a worthless sorry arse excuse. Did you want me our someone else from SUBSIM to call and find out these hours for you? Stop the pity party and find out NOW. GET ON IT!
Most people usually come in well ahead of the start of the work day and pour themselves a cup of coffee or just chill in front of the desk before they get to work. Try calling about around 15 minutes before the clock starts. If you get no answer then go down there and start knocking on doors.
Persistence persistence persistence and when you've exhausted that then try with even more persistence. Step up to the plate and MAKE yourself known don't be discouraged.
