You are in the right place, as previously mentioned using notepad should work fine. Please be very careful what you change here as it's not all as obvious as it seems, copy the original file and keep it somewhere safe.

IIRC With Gen you have to start a patrol, go many km out to sea and save (not near land/convoy/etc, just like a normal in-game save) then Alt-Tab out to desktop, start SH3Gen and point it at your latest save, re-enter and load your previous save in SH3 and on your map should be lots of nice juicy (and avoidy
) things. It definately does work with GWX. Enjoy your hunting folks.
