I think the problem is gov't spending. They're wasting money on so much fluff, it's not even funny. Take the city of Portland (ore-gone). The uber liberal mayor has no money for police, but magically finds $600k for bike paths (taken from the city sewer-water management fund). Now there's not enough money for the big sewer project (surprise), so the answer...raise taxes on water rates.

...and on a side not, Portland doesn't have"police" anymore, they're "peace enforcers."
