I cannot stay surfaced for long during the day without getting bombed by planes so its frustrating trying to wait on the surface to find any targets. So i guess my question is, are ships in the game or have i hit some bug where they all disappeared?

Disabled TMO and then edit the Airstrike.cfg file
Im playing RFB at the moment but same thing.
Go into SH4/mods/TMO/data/cfg folder then open up Airstrike.cfg with notepad.
Maximum Aircraft Range=2000 - I changed mine to 250.
Save file then enable TMO.
Your see other adjustments you can make, I found just editor the range slowed the aircraft attacks.
