Close races usually go to the dems since they'll cheat when it comes to it. They always change the rules mid-stream, find "missing" boxes of ballots, etc. The democratic platform position on IDs at polling places demonstrates clearly that they think they benefit from fraud. Recounts allow more fraud.
That's the biggest plus of this election, all the governor and state house flips. We can at least have fair elections (when Heather Wilson lost here, I tried to vote, and the new paper ballots (corrupt (really, indicted people in her office)) meant that some precincts didn't get enough ballots. Guess which ones? R heavy. In the morning. So everyone voting early OTW to work (cause, duh, they had WORK to do during the day) was screwed.
