I'd like to add a couple to that:

Admiral Sir Percy Noble
Commander Western Approaches 1941-42.

Admiral Sir Max Horton
Commander Western Approaches 1942-45

Alan Turing
CGCS, Bletchley Park

Sir Robert Watson-Watt
Chain Home Radar network creator

Air Chief Marshall Hugh Dowding
Commanding officer of RAF Fighter Command

British bias I know, but these are the men I could think of to hand, each one played an important, heck, vital part in keeping Britain off the ropes during the hard times of 1939-41. They're usually the first to be forgotten though, which is a shame, a terrible shame.

Still, good list.
