Their reasoning is that should Williams attempt parole in 25 yrs, the public will still remember him and lessen the chances of him getting it. They may be on to something.
Yeah, as I said, it's certainly something that you can see with Paul Bernardo and Carla Homolka. While the latter did get her parole, I think the uproar caused by it will probably make the authorities think twice about releasing criminals like that again. In this case, I think the press is doing an important civic service, by ensuring that this sticks in the public mind and allows them to be a force to reckon with when it comes to the questions of parole etc.
