- There is one member who I give all the management points to at the beginning of any mission......he is none other than the Motor Officer (first column/second crew member):- why? because I can max out his ability to ensure the engines are serviced and when the U-boat is in silent running, his abilities when maximised make my U-Boat underwater signature vanish.....this helps greatly when you become the hunted.
- I never never never attack enemy shipping with escorts in shallow water. Minimum manoeuvring depth for my U-boat against escorts is 70 meters, I will not engage with escorts in the near vicinity no matter how tempting the target maybe.
- Periscopes (attack/observation) must not remain above the surface for longer than 40 seconds when approaching convoys/escorts within the two kilometre radius. The lookouts will spot you and vector the escorts to your vicinity, once that occurs your on the defensive, hence; I redirect you to my first point. Take a quick look with your periscope then lower it below the surface, do not ever leave the periscope in the up condition breaking the surface, that is a neon sign saying I'M OVER HERE!!!!!
