Germany's First Hitler Exhibition
For the first time since the end of World War II, a major Germany museum is putting on a significant exhibition about Adolf Hitler -- Berlin's German Historical Museum's "Hitler and the German Nation and Crime." It's not a trivial matter significant only for history buffs, either. Germany has a tortured, complex relationship to its past. Many -- including many Germans -- argue that it has never fully confronted its fall from being the center of sophistication for the Western world to being at the heart of the 20th century's worst horrors. According to the museum, the Hitler exhibition will try to answer the question of why so many Germans chose to follow Hitler and his fascist ideology and so devotedly, despite the horrors of World War II and the Holocaust. The exhibition will be open to the public from Oct. 15 until February 6, 2011. Here: various busts of Adolf Hitler.
