It will only show in the logs generated by Commander. It won't show up in the logs you access in the game's interface.
If you have 'Use Real Ship Names' selected in Commander, and you don't see
any real ship info (including names) in the logs when you access them through Commander, then you may not have updated your Personnel File yet. After each patrol you must update your Personnel File before accessing your logs - that's what triggers Commander to flesh out the log files already created by the game with real ship data.
If you are updating the Personnel File first, then looking at your logs, and see real ship names but no cargo/crew data... I got nothin'. I've never known Commander to put in the names and nothing else.
