I would counter that by saying that under the Democrats the middle class was artificially and unsustainably inflated. A factory worker, even a
union factory worker, was never supposed to be a middle class job. Paying them middle class wages especially in todays global economy has just caused their jobs and a whole lot more to move overseas which is the true reason for this apparent shrinkage of the middle class.
