Your buddy is right though about subsims appeal to a generally older crowd.
In 2001 I used to work for a company which provided telephone support for Ubisoft, (their support was outsourced back then) Every guy who called with SH2 Issues sounded no younger than 50, I kid you not! One of them evern told me he was a retired Officer in the Royal Navy.
Being 21 and an avid gamer, I was actually dead impressed that there were gamers out there in the same age group as my parents, I remember thinking 'good for you', when I spoke to an older guy
