Sort of ironic that I just logged on to find this thread. I was on the second patrol of an Alaskan campaign (TMO +RSRD). I was stalking two freighters off the Aleutian islands. Only one small aux sub chaser escorting. The chaser had put me under a few times with depth charges to follow each time.

As I came to periscope depth to take a shot at the freighters for the third time the chaser beared down on me as I took another shot. On about the 4th time he did this I went deep (in an S-42) to about 310 ft. Either he was really good or it was a lucky depth charge but he got me. There was no salvaging it. Gauges began breaking and water rushed into the control room. Down, down, down she went. It was all over at about 375 ft.

I won't be reloading that save. Dead is dead.
