Yes, the planes add a whole different dimension to the realism of this sub sim. Without them, the game would get a lot less interesting. If the planes seem to do nothing on their first pass, trust me, they won't be so benign on their second. Their first pass probably involves visual identification as well as determining your course (not easy to do from a distance while traveling at over 200kts) for any adjustments they may need to make on their most effective angle of attack. As Armistead says, this is not a shoot-em-up arcade game but, a submarine simulator. You'll get used to them. In fact, you'll even come to appreciate the added immersive effect they contribute. You may not think so now but, it'll happen.
