Another cool idea... I think,
if the AI uBoat are in fact scheduled to be a random occurance, that if you're within "X" distance of another uBaot while on your patrol (minus a 100km radius around a port) that the game would give you the option for a link up!
Somehow you (or they) could ask the other for assistance and you (or they) could accept or decline the invitation. Accept, and get awarded extra renown for aiding the mission.
So, how about it Ubi!!??
