Well you've sunk her allright, but have you destroyed her? I wouldn't be so sure about it, as shallow waters can give a ship a second chance, you know.

Examples?

Italian BB "Conte di Cavour" had been sank 3 (three) times. In Tarent by the British in '40, then in Triest by the Italians themselves in '41 and then finally by Americans in '45.

US BBs "West Virginia" and "California" had been sank by the Japanese in Pearl Harbour '41, but they had been lifted, refitted and had served in line again.
