First patrol going well in January 1944 with a Balao(SubPac) three ship, one escort convoy heading south for Truk of Chi Chi Jima, sank all three merchants for 18,000 tons, one in a storm using radar to shoot(it was tough) eight torpedos and plenty of fuel left(couple missed, couple malfunctioned, even in 44)

Note:Completed Patrol.Found another convoy of four large ships and 4 escorts.Used four bow tubes and two stern tubes to sink a Hauksika Maru and a Nagara Maru, escaped without much harassment due to the heavy seas no doubt.Follow up night surface attack, attempted to use two stern fish to put one into each of remaining freighters hoping I'd get luck or at least crippe one and use deck gun to finish them off after escorts left area. However, during the torpedo run while fish were still 3,000 yards from target, the starboard flank escort came back into position and due to the full moon(fired from 4000 yards while flank escort was out in right field, came back sooner than usually does) spotted me, forcing me to make an emergency dive while the targets slow and began evasive manuevers, causing my last two fish to miss, ah well, it happens.Went to 500 feet and listened as ober 60 depth charges were dropped in my area but due to heavy seas, they never had me.Returned home with 34,000+ tons down. Also awarded the Navy Cross for outstanding first patrol.I missed this sim...
