Correct. Also, lest some people confuse the issue, the 88mm gun on U-boats is not the same 88mm gun that terrorized Allied and Russian tank crews. That gun was a flak gun and was the basis of later dedicated anti tank guns and guns mounted in tanks like the Tiger. The 88mm gun on the U-boats was simply a naval gun of the same calibre, but not of the same punch as the land version. There was simply no way the 88mm naval gun would even injure a battleship, let alone sink it. The belt armour on some battleships was as thick as eleven inches, perhaps more.
