I once got caught between three convoys in the area between Ireland and the Hebrides, where the convoys have to funnel through to approach Britain. It's a good hunting ground until massive air cover drives us away. I had been hunting one convoy and was flanking it when I saw the lead escort from an outbound convoy approaching. No choice but to dive; then a third convoy appeared! I had no option to attack and would not have if I could; with that many escorts available it would have meant certain death. I went quiet and as deep as I could. When it was clear I hauled out of there.
Unless you are extremely lucky, you are dead. Chalk this one up to experience and console yourself with the notion that "it's only a game."
