Obviously I'm not the OP, but I have to give my opinion here. AOD and SH1 gave us nearly perfect simulations of the WW2 submarine experience, and a lot of that was the career mode. SH2 threw that out and gave us a series of "solve it before you can advance" missions, FPS-style. No career at all, and very little replayability. That's what's wrong with SH2, easily the worst of the series.

I don't like it either. I thought it was a heavy handed excuse for a special-effects extravaganza, and what plot there was was so silly I started throwing my popcorn at the screen.
