Default [WIP] Subs Damage Model

This has had a topic about it awhile back but still we are in the fog...
Has anyone a real understanding of the submarine damage model and how it works ?

One thing that I don't get is why the hull damage only shows after 35 % and not really before ?

Quote:
Your JB has 450 hitpoints, the S boats which I think were weak rivited sub? (Didn't look it up) have 600 as does the Gato. Some other I saw 500-550, I didn't check them all. I feel from the info you have given me,the IJN subs should be stronger than the early Fleet Boats right ??

why should the S-Boat have as many hitpoints as a Balao sub ?

also :

Quote:
1. Certain items, bulkhead, dive planes transmission, batteries, torp tubes, batteries and some others, always get massive damage or complete destruction. I never see 8% damage on a battery.
2. Hull damage, I never see 10% hull damage, it seems to start at about 35%
3. Your crash speed is set to 50, I have seen other subs set to 2 and the ones I remember were always less than 10. That would work ok IF the sub exceeds the crash depth, BUT my theory (again limited knowledge) leads me to believe if you have damage the crash depth is going to change.

Which could possibly even put crash depth=periscope depth. So it may be possible that with the 25 times faster crash speed we may be taking damage to the bulkheads almost as fast as we are fixing them.

Which would explain why we sink before we can get the damage fixed. And this would include one other thing noted in prior PMs (long time ago, so probably forgotten) when I get bulkhead damage at 60 %, I get about 10% flooding but that is enough to start my trip to the bottom. One compartment with that much flooding would not do that.
