Around six weeks of paid time off is now the annual norm across Europe. This is 2 to 3 times as many paid days off per year than Americans.

Six weeks?! lol someone please tell me where I can get a job with that kind of holiday entitlement
I get 20 days annually, and untill recently that had to include the statutory bank-holidays- so in reality I only got thirteen days actual annual leave

also our company allows for a maximum of three weeks time allocated for illness per year should it be needed, though if you take more than three days off on the trot due to sickness you
must produce a doctors certifficate to prove you are/were unwell.
This is pretty much standard for most forms of employment here, particularily if you earn less than 17k per annum (like me

- actual figure is £13,000pa
before any tax deductions... boooo! sssss!).
