Well, there's a difference between thinking it and advocating it, lol.
And a difference IMO between responding
in the moment to a situation where violence against one's self or another is clearly imminent or already in process, and responding after the fact. The former is an act of prevention; the other, one of punishment or even revenge.
The morality as well as the practical value of a physically violent response in either case is, of course, debatable.
