That was my concern, as well as watching the fireworks. It was filthy weather and I'm not sure if the game takes visibility range into its calculations for credit. In the same patrol, I later torpedoed another freighter and another, or the same, torpedo craft went screaming past me at less than 1,000 metres and didn't even see me.
However, lesson was learned and we shall be more careful, especially considering both Scapa Flow and Loch Ewe are not that far away. I find the Hebridean strait to be a rich hunting ground early in the war. I have never felt brave enough to try it in the latter era of the war.
