LOL.
I was given free reign to patrol the Celebes Sea (RFB/RSRDC). I decided to nose into Davao. (staying well into the deep water near the mouth).
I plotted a course, and pumped up the time compression. It dropped me to a slowed compression when it said "shallow water" and I hit F5 to get to the bridge and drop it to TC 1.
Good thing.
"Hard a starboard!"
I was parallel to the steep coast within a few seconds, a "biscuit toss" away (Patrick O'Brian ref

). No kidding,
that close to wrecking the boat. Glad it dropped straight away to deep water, the shallow water triggered within maybe 1-2 boat lengths of the cliff. Had my course intersected the coast at better than the ~45 degrees it did, I'd have been toast.
Gotta remember to check my transit routes on the chart.
On the plus side, I nosed in to find TWO heavy cruisers on the way out at pretty high speed right towards me with no escorts and sank one of them. Woot! (they were so fast I had no time to set up. I roughly squared my course to them at flank underwater, then fired a spread at zero gyro angle aimed just by leading him ~15 degrees (and use of the spread angle). Fired all 4 tubes and gave him a list (and slowed him by ~1/2), had to end around to finish him.)
