I get plenty of weather changes. Just running RSRDC. Could be just the luck of the draw with your career so far. I would be it'll change eventually. And I always use a higher compression that 1024, but I try not to go higher than 2048. The sub never moves any faster after that anyway. That still makes for a hell of a long journey from Midway to Japan! I usually have time to get up and get myself something to eat!!
