Eh, there are only so many story lines in the entire history of storytelling to which the human psyche will respond in any meaningful fashion. The details vary, but the primary plot points don't change much.

If you went through the entire history of sci-fi I'm sure you would find that the ones quoted above have been used over and over again, sometimes to great affect and sometimes not. Mostly it depends on the skill of the storyteller(s), and assessing that in any particular case is always a subjective matter. To each his own.
