The editor rocks. I've spent the last four days scripting the intro for a mission I'm working on. It's the closest I'm ever going to get to being a film director. I've even just been loading up the new maps, sticking down a SUV and a civ unit and driving around looking for location to "shoot" in. All I've done recently is muck around in the editor and relive my youth by watching old skateboard videos from the 80's on youtube. A virtual pint to whoever can tell me which vid the phrase "Yabble Dabble" came from. I'll even throw in a packet of pork scratchings if you can tell me who said it?
Neverwinter Nights 2 or Arma 2: which has got the better editing suite? I think this game just edges it. The scripting has always felt so much more intuitive than in NWN and it feels like you can do just about anything you can imagine.
I've always disliked the campaigns in Bis games; too often they just seem like it's your squad against an entire army. To be honest, if I want large scale combat in the angry desert I'll boot up CMSF.
