That's because, like all humans we operate on multiple levels. While we may have philosophical differences concerning politics, that does not mean that we disagree on everything.
Respect for animals appears to be one area where we agree, and I am sure there are many other areas we agree on.
I would like to think that there would be some common ground where all humans can agree, but as illustrated by this thread's comments, that is impossible.
This is why, while may strongly disagree with what people write here, I hold no animosity towards them as a person.
