SHIV requires DirectX9 and you should install the one on the disc. That does
not mean you miss out DirectX11, so don't worry.
I can recommend creating a partition on your harddrive for games/data etc. so you have seperate systemdrive and datadrive.
It will save you a lot of work when/if you in the future wants to reinstall or restore Windows 7.
Windows 7 and Silent Hunter runs extremely well and troublefree.
Unless you install in programfolder. Or use the Steam version...
