one practice i have adopted to help control e-mail related spam...

set up 3 e mail addresses.

1 will be for personal contacts

1 will be for professional contacts

1 will serve as a spam filter

Here's how you do it.

Lets assume your name is John Williams and you sign up for these three xmail accounts

account one will be for personal contacts, we will call it "HotRodGuy11@xmail.com" this is the e mail address you share with close friends or family etc

account two will be for professional contacts, we will call it "John.Williams@xmail.com" this is the e mail address you will place on a resume, or share with professional contacts, business customers etc.

account three will be our spam filter. we will call it "JWSpamBox@xmail.com" this is the e mail address you will use for all online purchases or any interactions with unknown online entities. any time you buy something online, sign up for a forum account, register a product or game, anything that involves giving your e mail address to any entity that is not your mom, dad, husband/wife, best friend or business associate... use this e mail address.

It really does help cut down on the amount of spam you receive in your inbox... except of course the one specifically intended for spam collection.
