I don't know if you did anything wrong or not but I wait to hand out rewards just before leaving for the next patrol.
There must be a reason I got into the habit of doing it this way but I have forgotten what the reason was. I've been at it for so long you see.
Maybe I had your your experience sometime in the past and that started me doing it this way.
