By trailers and the first episode that I just have seen, first impression is that the band of characters is somewhat scattered, and the personalities are given more shallow descriptions than in Band of Brothers. I sat there, watched it, and was left uninterested when it was over.

Of course I will watch the other episodes too, but my expectations are dampened. Band of Brothers was so great due to its total lack of pathos and the believable characters and very good actors. My first impression after one episode thus is that Pacific does not hold up to that standard - the old series already had scored after just the first episode.
