the masts are electrically isolated from the rest of the hull. Its basicaly a lightning rod by itself, connnected to the keel which directs the power into the sea and not the boat. and there's an outer coating of some chemicals, which I am not paid to know about, that also insulates the composite from any power sources

the batteries themselves would need a seperate boat to carry them, to store that much power, if you had lightning in mind
