Red One - 609 Squadron - RAF Boscome Down (should have been RAF Middle Wallop)
Jerry hitting another convoy off the coast, Hurris came in from the east whilst we provided top cover. Followed Red Two and Three into the fight in the clouds, lots of yellow nosed bastards but I think only a couple got down to the Hurris who were getting beaten up by the Stukas somehow.
Nailed one particular 109 who had a spot of engine damage already, he turned into a glider and went down in the Channel.
RTB'd and removed undercarriage on landing...still...any landing you can walk or crawl away from...
Confirmed one Bf109
RTB RAF Boscombe Down
Pilots Notes:
Successful sortee, despite the messy landing. Being the sole survivor was rather strange...and un-nerving...
Rendezvousing with the C-47 for mid-air tea refueling.
