People, use multi-plug connectors with additonal switches to make sure your equipment, TV, settop box etc is not running idle in standbye. I use these switches exclusively, and switch on and off computer stuff, TV stuff, HiFi stuff by such switches. Else modem, Tv boxes and some other equipment would consume close to 100 Watts even when being switched of. The technical specifications set by the manufacturers are so totally hilarious. A cable receiver consuming 35 Watt when running - and 35 Watt when being switched off? A Microwave cinsuming 10 Watts for justing sitting dark in the nightly kitchen? HiFi receiver consuming 12 Watt in "off"...?
