FIXED!
It turns out I had loaded a skin I like, but it actually changes the imbedded image for the Type VIIb, so it works under any other skin you apply. I figured out it was in the .dat file itself, so I copied the cool skin to a fresh .dat, with waterstreams, and all is now well.
