Yeah, if you are running Env 2.2 it is most likely the ClimateZones.tga file, it is notorious for crashes to desktop. As mentioned, astradeus' mod lowers the amount of crashes you get, but some have found that it does still cause some. Near the end of the thread for Env 2.2 I have uploaded a totally redone file, that should solve the problem(I got rid of all unreferenced color, even ones that are on land
). You can simply install it via JSGME over Env 2.2. Please try it and keep us posted about your results, it would nice to track down things that cause instability.
