News ticker on TV this morning said that it could be as late as August before any headway is made on capping the damn thing. What was the estimate, around 2 million gallons of oil leaking out per day? That'll be around 180 million gallons by then, on top of what's already floating around out there.

If anything, at least the industry will learn from this experience how to cap a blown pipe in deep waters. It's obvious that they had no contigency plan to cover "what if the blowout preventer fails?". Who would have suspected that it would happen?
