i don't think that it matters so much which war you fight (Atlantic, Pacific, WWI, WWII, Cold, Falklands)... or which side you fight on (German, Japaneses, British, French, Argentinian, American, Canadian, Russian)... or whether you're on top of the waves (DD)... or beneath the waves (SS, SSN, SSBN, SSK, PL, PLK,PLA, PLARB, SSG, SSGN)...

... but i think that the lack of actual hands on involement of the operation of the submarine or destroyer is what might be the root cause of any discontent.

i mean... i could play SH3 all over again... or SH4 Pacific as a Japanese submariner (they weren't as bad as you might think)... or a SH6 in the cold war without a lot of shooting... if only i had some hands on control of the sub or ship i was on...

you know what i mean... turn the wheel to move the dive planes... flick a few switches to open and close ballast tanks... move around the compartments in the sub... stuff like that...

to have a sea that's so noisy and unfriendly... that, at times you'd prefer to be below decks, nice and warm and quiet... instead of on the bridge looking at stuff... that would be nice...

and a pitching and rolling deck... one that could make you sea sick at times... one that would pitch and roll you around so much as to make you beg to the skipper take er under...

a ladder to go down.. from the bridge to the control room...

a bunk i could crawl in... with a privacy curtain

stuff like this is what would be cool... otherwise, to me... it's all the same thing... no matter what sub you're in, no matter what war you're fighting...

D key... we're diving... wooop eeee... don't get me wrong... i'm not complaining or anything... we've had a lot of fun with SH3... more than with any sub sim to date...

... but i think some of us might need more.

more of the real thing... not more of the same ole same, set in different eras...

btw... that's a great looking Sturgeon model up there...
