Is ridiculous that ubi donīt include IX-B and C boats using the same interiors or ar least a good ressuply system.
For me the game is half finished until some things will be included or fixed.
But there are some possibilities that big boats can be used in long range patrols using mods

This is not the problem, the big question is arrive to the patrol zone and return to base or the ressuply point ( if it exist
)
Once in the patrol zone is possible stay a lot of days stay under the surface at day and recharge at night, always near of the ship lanes.
But as i said before...you have to arrive before...
