Could possibly be Vinland (North america) as mentioned in the greenland saga. I won't go on and on about it as I'm too drunk. But the first expedition was lead by Thorfinn Karlsfeni (I think that's how you spell it) but failed, a second expedition was organised about 5 or 6 years later by Thorfinn's brother Thorvald. I'll stop myself now
