i look at the lifeboat section to identify a c3 or c2.
At the c3 the section where the boats are mounted is clearly visible near the aft of the ship.
C2´s have the boats more near the bridge and less visible from greater distance.

Thanks for the tip, The Avon Lady i didn´t know that trick too.
