I would stick with 4 until they get 5 fixed up.
1.5 with Operation Monsoon is a pretty good set up.
They will no doubt get 5 looking and acting very good but it's going to take some time for all the patches and full mods.
The modders have done an amazing job so far so I would expect that they will get the job done.
Personally if it wasn't for mods all three of the games would have had a short life.
