OK, now i feel REALLY dumb...
I just thought that if thermal layers, blind spot behind the enemy etc. are in the sim this would be too... And yes, I ment couple of meters above the bottom rather than touching it, that's why I really jumped from my seat when I started to hear screeching and general panicing sounds around my sub, 18m above the bottom!
I actually got nearer in another spot, few meters from the bottom, but like you said, no luck. Enemy Tribal ran right over me.

I guess then that enemy sonar works flawlessly in storms and in the influence of other ship's propeller turbulence (like in the middle of the convoy) etc...?
